This will be studied for a long time to come. Not quite “galloping gertie” at the Pacific Narrows, but close. Hate to be anyone associated with that right now, contractors, suppliers, anything and everything will be scrutinized. Lots of CYA going on right now.
When I was stationed in South Korea I vaguely recall just a few years earlier a spate of bridge failures.
Seems the contractors cheated, and/or used seawater to mix the portland and make concrete. Lasted longer than a week though.
At least the Tacoma Narrows Bridge stood for 24 years before finally succumbing to the effects of wind-induced harmonic coupling.
