DJT has a negotiating history. He understands the game, games his adversaries and usually wins. He is known for fall back positions and alternative plans. In this instance, he may be far more adept than any of his advisors, all of whom have a history of unimaginative normalcy bias.

Yes,that's certainly occurred to me.It's conceivable that the Chinese,not wanting nuclear war to break out on their border,have taken Kim Jong Psychopath aside and told him he can't depend on them anymore.That,plus an offer of asylum in China and a couple of billion deposited in a Swiss bank account might just convince him that the game is over.But loss of China's support is the *only* thing that would make him even *consider* throwing in the towel...and we don't know if that's happened.
