Perhaps some were legitimately kept from voting -- I don't know one way or the other. I had no problems at my precinct, even though it was my first time voting there. I do know that some people were ignorant of whether they are in the 18th District or not, and might have thought they were prevented from voting. The plural of anecdote is not data, but here are two anecdotes:

My parents' church is usually a polling site, and people were coming there thinking they could vote. They were not only were turned away but there were no machines set up - because it's in the 12th District.

Likewise, my dad was told he could vote in the special election (he can't, because my parents live in the 12th District as well). Worst part about it is that he was told this by his precinct's Republican poll watcher. Who knows how many people he told the incorrect information.
