“Tillerson was an establishment figure, like Gary Cohn, and the president seems after a year to be tiring of them,” said one source with knowledge of the matter.

...

But according to the article, the establishment didn’t like him either. I guess Tillerson was too used to being a CEO and getting his own way.

One story making the rounds is that when the Trump team was discussing the decision to have the President offer to meet directly with Kim someone asked whether Tillerson should be brought into the loop. ‘Why bother’ said Trump, he’ll just disagree with the plan like he always does.

If true, firing Tillerson was a good call. Besides the Iran deal being bad for America, it’s the President’s prerogative to set national policy. The Secretary of State merely implements the President’s policy, perhaps offering suggestions for change, but then following orders or resigning.

Instead of following POTUS’s agenda like a subordinate should Tillerson decided he knew better and freelanced.

Trump wanted to fix it or scrap it. Tillerson got bogged down trying to fix it when it was impossible to please all those polarized viewpoints. I don't think a negotiated settlement is possible. That deal should have been scrapped long ago. All Iran understands is force and pressure. We will see how this NK situation develops which could influence how we handle Iran.

Perhaps we should consider ourselves to be in a Cold Civil War.

This is what Reagan should have done with Caspar Weinberger after the latter belayed RR’s order to bomb Hizbollah after the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut.

These State dept guys think they are running foreign policy.

Truman had the same problem with George Marshal.

If he was not onboard with his boss on this issue he should have either gotten onboard or resigned his position. Working behind the boss's back at cross-purposes is not acceptable.

Yes, good riddance to any idiot who would support the most idiotic plan by Valerie Jarrett and Barack Hussein Manchurian Candidate Obama.

They intended to empower Iran in not-so-stealth mode. A country that has vowed to nuke Israel off the face of the Earth.

No sane person would have created, supported nor implemented such a “deal” - it surely is helping to bring on Ezekiel 38. And yes, I believe that war is not too far off.

They acronym SOS when applied to Tillerson actually meant Sack of $hit! He was a disloyal bastard who overstayed his welcome. Too bad Trump picked him in the first place, but at least he corrects his mistakes.

Trump brought in Tillerson to make the Bushies feel better. He is a globalist by his nature. Being a BIG oil guy will do that to you.

One year in, Trump realizes that he doesn’t need to placate the RINOs. He is going to get grief from them no matter who he has in there.

Tillerson learned the hard way that you cannot serve two masters.

If you are going to disagree with the boss you better be right and the stronger the disagreement the more right you better be

If you have a strong disagreement with the boss on critical issues and you are proven wrong then you will not be around long

Disagree with the boss and try to undermine his position and end run his authority with rouge policy directions and you get fired- especially if you are proven wrong - and you get fired

Tillerson took the last course of action on at least Israel, North Korea and Iran and was proven wrong on all of his policy positions and strategies while being caught freelancing and undermining the boss so he got fired

“””””If this is the case then good riddance to Tillerson. What I can’t understand is Trump firing Tillerson fo good cause while Sessions continues to undermine the president and country every day he continues at DOJ.”””””””

That one has me baffled also. Sleepy wrote a sternly worded letter to California last week. So far that is the only thing he did in the last year.

My only hope is that he and President Trump know something is going down but are keeping in quiet. If not then I see no reason why he is still allowed to sleep at the DOJ.Is he waiting for Sleepy to finish all the seasons of Matlock on Netflix?

Pompeo to take a much harder line on the nuclear deal and pursue many of the fixes advocated by Trump, such as outlawing Iran's ballistic missile program and instating fierce repercussions for any future breach.

Translation: We’ll Huff, and we’ll Puff, and we’ll BLOOOOOOOW your house down. BS Kabuki theater. Meaningless in reality. Pure Pablum.

While Tillerson's exit had been rumored for months

As has the exit of every other official in the WH. And mst of them will be replaced. When a man's particular competence and approach have accomplished an objective and other talents are needed a good CEO perceives the new needs and acts accordingly. It is not like these guys are actually being fired, the terms of their contracts have been fulfilled and it is time for a new contract with a new subcontractor.
