I have noticed that there are substantially more male to female than female to males in this category. This is despite the fact that women are horrifically oppressed in this country. It must be a really hard thing giving up all that privilege.

I once felt that way, but have since revised my assessment to "if it has a 'Y' then it is a 'guY'". With the introduction of a 'Y' chromosome comes the introduction of many physical and mental changes as well. For example, the Olympics has proved (to me) that allowing intersex individuals to compete against women, puts the women at significant (insurmountable) natural physical disadvantage.

Intersex, OTOH, does occur, and those individuals may require surgery and/or counseling at some point.
