There’s a blast from the past. When I was 10 or 11 in the late 1950’s, one of my aunts took her kids and me to see Sasha at the University of Pennsylvania. All I remember is he demonstrated how he killed large charging animals like lions and tigers with a long spear. He would stand braced with the butt of the spear on the ground and his hands wrapped around the shaft so that when the beast leaped at him, it would be impaled on the spear point.
