1968 . . . hmmmm I would agree, still remember the headlines and photographs in the newspaper. Followed the hearings and Commander Bucher. Many who paid would agree.

I never followed up to know if what we were told was true. Remember about that same time we were learning the Bay of Tonkin was not exactly what we were first told. Then of course President Johnson . . . argh. Funny thing is everything Q talks about now and today . . . we talked the same then. Yeah a few names have changed, but in principal same ole same ole.

Anyone under the age of 50 probably could not spell USS Pueblo let alone know anything ever occurred. But you are correct. That would be the right and honorable thing to do.

And think of how much face they’d lose by returning the Pueblo to us. I would consider that a major victory over the NORKS.

There was a version of the ‘Pueblo Saga’
by Robert A. Liston -
“The Pueblo Surrender: A Covert Action by the National Security Agency”
and his main theme was that NSA had placed a Teletype Machine on the Pueblo with a ‘glitch’ in it hoping it would reach Russian Hands.

NSA had suspected Russian of ‘reading our mail’ and the glitched machine did show up in Russian control.

John Walker either launched his spy career or ‘we’ were onto him around then and this also came about from the Russians having the machine.

I don’t know if all this true or coincidence as I never saw verification of this ‘theory’ and I did study up on the incident as it was ‘close to home’.
