MANILA (Reuters) - At least 44 pro-Islamic State militants were killed and 26 more were wounded when Philippine soldiers shelled positions held by the rebels in southern Maguindanao province, the army said on Sunday.
The fighting, initially with about 50 members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), broke out in a remote village in Datu Saudi Ampatuan town from Thursday morning and lasted the following day, said Lt. Col. Gerry Besana.

Kill them like Black Jack Pershing did. Shoot them
With bullets dipped in pig blood and bury them in pig guts.

Is that a reference to the Maguindanao massacre?

Is that a reference to the Maguindanao massacre?Probably not. As far as I know, not one person has ever been held accountable for that massacre. I tend to stay away from those western provinces.

I bet this will warrant another condemnation of Duterte by the Jordanian Prince who runs the UN Human Rights Council. He is furious that Duterte is snuffing out the Islamist terrorists in the Philippines, and has called Duterte “insane”.

the headline is misleading.
Here, “militants” usually refers to the NPA, the commies.
BIFF is an Islamic terrorist group. Very nasty.

I had a couple of friends living / working in Davao. One of them is now doing nails in Dubai so she's okay.
The other moved to Roxas with her airline job, but last month took a huge promotion and is working at Cebu Pacific Headquarters in Manila. She's okay too. They are cousins. Their family is in a village north of Butuan. No trouble up there, (yet.)

Their family is in a village north of Butuan. No trouble up there, (yet.)I have been to Butuan City a time or two. Its always been peaceful there. At one time Davao City was the most dangerous City in the Philippines. Along came Duterte, and others, who kicked rears and took names. Now, its really peaceful and safe. 👍

I still have friends in Butuan.
My ex’s-family are from Victory, a small village north of Cabadbaran which is north of Butuan about 30-40 minutes.
The two girl cousins I mentioned in my last are also cousins of my ex. I'm very close with the airline girl. She was Miss Cabadbaran of 2012.

I've never flown on any Asian airline which didn't have good looking stewardesses.
50 years ago the same could be said for US airlines.
In 1966 I was approached by three JAL stewardesses in downtown Bangkok. I was too stupid and naive at the time to understand was an opportunity they were presenting to the young white boy stationed there. They even asked if I lived there in Bangkok. What a dolt.
