I saw Flake this past Wednesday. It was a small gathering of Arizona County Supervisors. He was still trashing Trump. Several Supervisors stood up and thanked him for his strong voice this year. Of course, they were all Democrats!

Flake, a frequent Trump critic, is retiring from the Senate because he said his traditional conservative views and temperament aren’t accepted in the age of Trump.

Guys like Flake and Kasich won’t run in the primaries because a contested GOP primary will get out the MAGA vote and hammer the progressive/ Trump hater GOP down ballot like Sasse. So they’ll hang back and run 3rd party, IMO.
