I didn't get a raise or anything since I'm retired, but the general feeling in the country is different. I can see it in the folks at the grocery store. Everybody seems to have a bounce in their step.

You will see a procession of game shows, formula comedies about totally unbelievable families, blood and thunder, mayhem, violence, sadism, murder, western bad men, western good men, private eyes, gangsters, more violence, and cartoons. And endlessly, commercials -- many screaming, cajoling, and offending. And most of all, boredom. True, you'll see a few things you will enjoy. But they will be very, very few. And if you think I exaggerate, I only ask you to try it.
I've not watched TV, don't even own one, since 2008, in fact my 10 year anniversary is coming up, and Mr. Minnow explained it perfectly 57 years ago.

For me it was early 1999 during Clinton's bombing of Serbia. I had a somewhat oversimplified view but I knew it was wrong to bomb a country for cracking down on Muslim insurgents, mainly for spite and alleged vengeance since M. Albright hated Serbia and the Serbs were blamed almost exclusively for the ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia. As I say, it was a complicated issue, but the TV presented it as good guys versus Hitler. I was totally disgusted and put the TV on the curb. Soon after that I discovered FR and joined later in the year.
