And you know what I like?
When this came to Trump’s attention, he probably looked at whatever someone handed him, asked if it were accurate, and made a decision.
Other politicians would have said “Let’s wait until the end of this term or until after the next election campaign...” but I suspect he just said “This isn’t right. Get him out.”
From all I have read about Trump so far from people who are close to him, this sounds like it would be a common theme.
No pussyfooting around. Just make a decision, do it, ignore the noise, and go to the next thing.
Trump used Sauciers story constantly during his campaign (comparing the situation to that of Hillary), and many people have been pleading for his release! Saucier and his mom have both been on TV, wondering why Trump wouldnt help out now that he is in a position to do so. Trump let the poor guy serve out his entire sentence, and hes been languishing in low paying jobs since his release months ago.
I love Trump, but he let this drag out WAY too long! Im hopeful the pardon will help Saucier get a better job so that he can finally support his family.
It has long been expected Trump would pardon this guy, especially since the White House asked him to apply for a pardon last year, when the normal pardon process doesn't start, at the earliest, 5 years after the prison term has been served.
Trump went against the 5 year protocol and was criticized, of course, for doing it his way.
