TALLAHASSEE The Florida House on Wednesday gave final approval to a bill that restricts gun sales and sets up a program to arm some teachers and other school employees. The bill is a response to the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 students and faculty dead. The final vote was 67-50. It came after an all-day debate on the measure. Democrats favored the gun control provisions in the bill a ban on bump stocks, an increase in the minimum age to buy a rifle from 18 to 21 and a three-day waiting period for all gun sales but object to the guardian program that would arm some teachers and other school staff.

IS unconstitutional. In a sane world, the court would strike it down swiftly and decisively.

NRA or some other gun rights group better get on the law suits for this. You just can’t say “okay only military and cops can own private rifles under 21”
What kind of North Korea bullshit is that!
Before my mom’s uncle turned 21 he was being shot at by Nazis. Fortunately he took out a couple of them and was honorably discharged.
Tell a 20 year old who just got back from a year in Afghanistan that they are too young to own a gun is sickening.
Exactly! Taking rights away from adults that are treated like adults in almost every other respect should be unconstitutional. I hope somebody sues and it gets to the Supreme Court.
True this. I bought my first rifle at
the age of 12. $40.00 and an order form
from Sears&Roebuck. 18 year olds should
be allowed to purchase a gun. So, now,
when a dad, buys a rifle for his son,
suddenly turns into a straw purchase.
Innocent Americans become instant
criminals.
Kinda funny, actually, but this is indeed a SLIPPERY SLOPE to all-out gun confiscation. THAT is the progressives’ goal.
Very slippery indeed. First they take away the rights of the younger group. Then it will be the older group because they are too old and senile. And then it will be the rest of us.
Three day waiting period for “all gun sales” is confusing. You mean legal exchanges between citizens????
And it was a mistake to do so. The maturity level needed to fight, and the maturity level needed to make responsible decisions about how a nation is governed are not necessarily the same.
This amendment was passed to give the draft dodgers political clout. At the very least it should have excluded everyone who didn't serve.
Want to vote at age 18? Join the Army. Just my opinion.
As a practical matter, 18 year olds voting has been a disaster. They are too gullible and too easily manipulated.
Im so glad I escaped Mexifornia three years ago. They have been going full scale fascist, even worse after we left.
I’ve got a feeling Scott is going to lose to Nelson. He was barely elected governor against far less competition and just doesn’t have a likable personality.
“I hope this makes it to the Supreme Court.”
It will.
I have a friend looking into this,
No real American would support this or any free man for that matter.
I can't really say anything because I have two psychopathic democrats as senators. I didn't vote for either but that hardly matters at this point. Please don't keep Nelson in the senate if you can help it. Scott might be a little squishy but we know what we get with Dems: taxes, mandates, etc.
You have this exactly right. Some people will say voting for the opposition is "Stupid", but what is stupid is letting people cross a red line without getting destroyed for doing it.
If people learn you won't defend red lines, they will keep crossing them. The long term gain requires that they believe voting for gun control measures will end their career.
I think in CA they already have a waiting period to buy a gun.
Why such intense Democrat support for restricting weapons for the people, but not wanting guns for protection by qualified personnel in the schools. Why? That MUST be answered.
“And it was a mistake to do so. The maturity level needed to fight, and the maturity level needed to make responsible decisions about how a nation is governed are not necessarily the same. “
That ain’t the point. Telling someone they have to go fight for you and they don’t get a say is the point.
“Im advocating for rights to be restored when you leave whatever prison your in, a mental institution, a prison.... it does not matter, if you can walk into a gun shop or gun store you should be able to buy whatever you want, Im still waiting to hear where it says different in the second amendment.”
My thoughts...
1. I think in some states, prior felons can have their rights restored after serving their full term (including parole).
2. Much of the commentary written by our founding fathers refers to “law abiding citizens” when talking about the 2nd amendment.
3. “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,...” implies that responsible citizens should comprise the militia (private citizens with their own arms protecting the country and keeping the government in check). how can violent or crazy people be well regulated?
