They should organize instead of whining. For an activist group, like the Tea Party. Maybe the WE PARTY, since the real issue is loss of influence. Or the Loser Party, which would fit with the dem candidates they'll be supporting. There's an election coming up. Never Trump is history, it's President Trump. The needed action will be to advocate for President Warren. Or Hillary Again. Uncle Joe. Maybe a Kerry or even a Gore. It will be a crowded primary, and there's a need for political wisdom that knew there'd never be a President Trump.

No doubt prissy Mona will read this, turn a nasty color of puce and stamp her little feet.
Excellent column, SJ, and thanks for posting.

The fact that sex with an underage pubescent girl is illegal makes Moore, if the charge is true, a political persona non grata. At the time this is alleged to have happened, the age to get married in Alabama was 14. So it wasn't illegal back then. Still carries something of an 'ick' factor, but that is another issue entirely.

>>Puffed up with self-regard about the purity of their principles,<<
And just what are those “principles”. Open borders? Unlimited immigration? Amnesty? Globalism over national identity? Abortion?
Hardly “principles” to be proud of. Certainly not the real principles in which the GOP was founded. And certainly nothing to be proud of.
Of course, all these “experts” who presume to know what’s good for us and are smarter than us are anything but. If brains were dynamite, they couldn’t blow the fuzz off a bee’s behind.

Mona Charen was somewhat well regarded years ago, but afaik has been in eclipse for many years. Havent even thought of her for a couple decades. That she would emerge now as a pseudo conservative scold only means she must have been shacking up with some liberal somewhere.
