RUSH: One other point that I need to make on this Jane Mayer 15,000-word piece. If youre just joining us, the left has decided they need to rehabilitate Christopher Steele, and the effort has begun with a 15,000-word article in The New Yorker by Jane Mayer who has written books trying to do great damage to Clarence Thomas. She has tried to do great damage to the TV show 24 and its creators for inspiring torture at Club Gitmo and Abu Ghraib. She also did a seek and destroy book on the Koch brothers. And now shes out with this massive article rehabbing Christopher Steele.
And she makes an assertion in this story that Donald Trump wanted Mitt Romney as his secretary of state but that Vladimir Putin put the kibosh on it because Putin has blackmailable data on Trump. In other words, she is claiming that Trump is essentially a sleeper agent for Putin, for Russia. Or that he is under Putins thumb. That Putin helped Trump get elected, Putin has blackmailable information, and that Putin didnt want Romney anywhere near the secretary of state position. As though Trump was ever gonna pick Romney. But, anyway, thats beside the point.
The way to kind of nuke this, the story lays claim to the fact that Putins real concern with Romney was that he was going to slap sanctions on Ukraine and other related Russian satellites and that Putin wanted no part of that. And so Putin insisted that Trump not put Romney in that position so as to avoid these sanctions.
Well, okay. Lets look at Trump administration policy in that regard. Are you aware that Donald Trump has kept the Russian sanctions over what they did in Ukraine? Trump has not lifted the sanctions on Russia over Putins mistreatment of Ukraine. The sanctions are still there and Romney was never secretary of state. So if the story is true that Putin nixed Romney because he didnt want any sanctions on Russia over Ukraine, then why are there still sanctions, and why hasnt Putin released the blackmailable information on Trump?
This is all so much BS. But you know, the problem with all of it, it remains the same old problem and it ties in with what I was just saying about education, how we dont have much of that going on anymore. Recent graduates of universities are not critical thinkers. Theyre sponges. They just soak all this stuff up. Social media, just soak all this stuff up.
So this Jane Mayer piece gets heralded and celebrated all throughout the Drive-By Media. And a bunch of sponges all over the country soak it up and believe it to be true. It wont be long before youre gonna be able to take your camera out on the street and ask your average, ordinary college educated Millennial, Do you think Trump did not name Romney because Putin warned him not to?
Oh, yeah. Absolutely. I saw it in the news. Without any stopping to literally, critically think about it.
“Jane Mayer 15,000-word piece. “
She must have been under a tight deadline — not enough time to write a 1,000-word piece.
15,000 words, when 0 words would do it justice.
Trump Evaluates Romney for Secretary of State job.
She has a long history of hit pieces. Wasn’t she the author of the article which reported the (illegally leaked) information that Linda Tripp had been arrested for theft? This was right in the height of public attention over the Monica Lewinsky scandal. When she was 17 some “friend” as a prank had planted a stolen object in her purse and gotten her arrested—the judge threw out the case and said she did not have to report it, but some Clintonista leaked it as part of the campaign to discredit her.
Rush missed the most important part of this article - Jane Mayer says she was one of the press that Steele met with and that after the DNC “hack” told her that he’d prepared another memo saying that Russian spies were embedded into DanC + HRC campaign. This is a MAJOR preemptive narrative shift to leak and killing of SR.
OK maybe that is old, but it is the funniest thing I have seen in awhile.... Thanks
I thought this old hag was dead. She’s a has been.
A lying flock writes 15,000 words. Just another piece of crap off the crap production line.
Lol, thanks! My caption...:)
A Jane Mayer story takes quite a while to write, so you have to look at what was going on a few weeks ago to figure out WHY she wrote the story.
It was probably a fairly rushed job, in response to the January goings-on with Steele, Grassley & Lindsey Graham.
Mayer doesn't get assigned stories like other journalists.
She's one of the prides of the Democrat Media battle fleet, similar to the Bismarck or the USS Missouri.
She only sorties for "special assignments" for the DNC.
Also, her writing is very "layered". There are usually 3, 4 or more things going on under the surface of her article.
Half of these layers are information that is being withheld or glossed over.
If you revisit the Tripp article and compare it with what was known at the time, and what Mayer most certainly knew that was secret, and then what was found out later, you can get a sense of how she writes her stories, with omissions and half-truths.
An example: I'd have to check, but I'm almost certain that Mayer didn't mention a whisper of Norma Asnes, Felonia's "swell pal" and someone who suspiciously buddied up to Tripp in a quest for Lewinsky info.
Mayer almost certainly knew about Asnes.
