I’m truly shocked... that a Democrat would resign over something like this. Only Republicans are supposed to quit after the discovery of this sort of misbehavior. Didn’t she get the memo? She was supposed to (1) laugh off her prudish critics; or (2) claim persecution for sexism, racism or homophobia; or (3) blame alcohol and say she’s going to rehab.

She plead guilty to theft of over $10,000 in a plea bargain where she gets a 3 year suspended sentence and 3 years unsupervised probation and pays $11,000 in restitution. After probation she will get the conviction expunged.

So basically, yes, because she is a Dem, she gets away with it with a slap on the wrist. But her political aspirations are gone.

I live near Nashville and her resignation comes as no surprise to most. Even the far left newspaper of record, the Tennessean, was calling for her resignation. It basically boiled down to her inability to be an effective mayor while this was hanging over her.
