It sounds to me like all genres of popular music sound more and more alike over time. I don’t know if the culture is becoming more homogeneous or what. Some of the stuff I hear on the radio doesn’t even have a melody. Now I don’t know how you can have a pop song without a melody, but they’re sure doing it.

Someone pointed that out to me quite some time ago - “the reason you don’t like new music is there are no melodies.” True. And often not really even songs, just chanting and grooves. No sense of a beginning, story, and ending.

I don’t know but like me, my 12 year old girl, just loves music from the 80s. I guess it was just fun and entertaining music. These days it all is just so boring, especially the garbage they call hip hop these days.
