The government has legitimate, and illegitimate tax avenues. Tariffs on imports was always considered the preferred and Constitutional way to raise revenue. Taxing ONE sector to protect it is not a trade war and will only have a minor effect on consumers for a short time. We must have steel and aluminum manufacturing to defend our country in time of war. Wars always come. Read a little history.

Trump announces a tariff on steel and aluminum. The EU says they will respond with tariffs on motorcycles, bourbon, and orange juice. Trump then says he will put a tariff on automobiles, which means that the EU will then put tariffs on other things. THAT is a trade war, and that's what we're headed towards.

Every industry makes the same special pleading.

Subsidize farmers because troops need food.

Subsidize oil because tanks use gas, etc.

Are you telling me the you support tariffs only for these two metals and nothing else?
