I enjoy those moments when someone asks me if I saw a movie or television show and I tell them, "No. I gave up on pop culture a couple years ago." I am not rude or cruel about it, but increasingly I drily tell people that I have no idea who entertainer/performer/impressario "X" is, that I haven't seen - or heard, if it involves music - "Y," and that "Z" does not strike me as something worth contemplation.
