Kroger announced Thursday that it will not longer sell firearms or ammunition to persons under 21 years of age.
The grocery chain sells guns and ammunition at its Fred Meyer stores in the western U.S. Those sales will continue but persons under the age of 21 will be prohibited from purchase.
CNN Money reports that Kroger released a statement, saying, In response to the tragic events in Parkland and elsewhere, weve taken a hard look at our policies and procedures for firearm sales. Recent events demonstrate the need for additional action on the part of responsible gun retailers.

I used to shop at Kroger . . .
I think 21 to buy a gun is fine
UNLESS you’re in the armed forces or reserves
Still won’t stop anyone from giving loaning or stealing you one
I don’t use any of these stores for my ammo purchases.
I am really fretting about their stance.
Kroger stood up to that commie Million Moms group demanding they ban concealed carry in their stores. Their commercials embrace traditional values. Im not going to throw them over for this (doesnt hurt that I only have the grocery stores near medont know Fred Meyer).
The me too corporations that jump on every dopey crazey melodramatic issue raised by the media are really pathetic. Remember Macys and JC Penny with their gay / lesbian promotions.
“....not many mass shootings were done by those under 21.”
It is a curious thing that when you do find listings of mass shootings...there might be a name listed but never an age, so you have to go looking. I tend to agree with you...it’s probably (since the 1980s) been only ten-percent of mass-shooters that were under 21.
However, if you use the Chicago situation...where it’s just one single guy killed per situation...I think in that case that the bulk are in the under-21 age group. Mostly gangs. Maybe if this were a national rule, it’d have some effect. But all you will do is drive bullet customers to particular stores. Dicks, Kroger and Walmart did the math and figure nationally....they’d lose probably less than a million a year on sales each.
We no longer have any Kroger’s that I know of and Walmart look like a hird world Bodega so that leaves us with Dick’s Sporting Goods around here.
Well, I get their promotional discount items, which are really meant for my son the hunter and daughter, the protective mother hen of any neighborhood with children.
After their stupid statements about guns, I suggest that we declare a national week about them centered around the theme, “National Go Dick-Less Week” for those who want to protest.
After all, if you don’t care about Dick, you can always shop at the local gun store.
Deep state controlled. Don’t support them.
Then no one under 21 should be permitted to serve in the military.
Let’s fight to raise the age of abortion without parental consent to 21.. after all, it’s killing our babies in cold blood.
Yes. It is clear discrimination.
Do you think a 20-year old woman who lives alone should have no self-defense?
I would think someone is going to sue these stores.
But... but... its triple coupon week!!!
Is 21 the new age of responsibility? Then let’s raise the voting age (back) to 21. Time to abolish the 26th amendment and let the states decide when the proper age for majority is.
Using the age 21 as the age of adulthood is cultural appropriation from the Midieval English. I demand that they stop appropriating my ancestor’s culture.
They’ll lose business. Hope they fail.
They are choosing not to sell to people below the age 21.
They are choosing not to bake cakes for gay people.
Sorry, but that happened. Whereas one is ACTUALLY a Right, the other is a Civil Right. There are differences but the spirit of both is the same.
A private company chooses not to sell guns and ammo to a particular group of people. A bakery chooses not to make wedding cakes for gays. We have to accept the similarities as well as the differences.
