The lesson to be learned is that you don’t throw your pearls before swine. Rich people need to stop adopting dregs to make themselves feel virtuous...old school virtue signalling.

$50k for a private adoption is rather above market rate for a clean transaction, even today. Close to 20 years ago, it isn’t quite passing the smell test. The $15k for the second child seems below market except for a state agency transaction. And if you are paying expenses, there shouldn’t be a volume discount.

This murderer is responsible for his actions.I'm not so quick to let Big Pharma and Big Medicine off the hook. Too many links between young killers and psychiatric drugs to ignore the need for further OBJECTIVE study.

I dont think my Dad liked the Drill Sergeants much less worshipped them.
He respected them for knocking that chip off his shoulder.

These doomed-to-be-troubled babies still would have existed if this particular couple hadn't adopted them. In this situation, someone called the FBI and gave extensive details about the shooter, including the fact that he had weapons and had posted threats on social media. The FBI never investigated the tip. Also, the well-meaning couple who took the grieving teenager in could have said to the teen, “You are welcome in our house, but your guns are not. We have guns, but we know ourselves. We don't know you that well, except that you are grieving.” If the teenager had chosen to live on the streets rather than give up his guns, that would have tipped people off about his priorities. My point is that many people have a rocky start in life, biologically, with regard to their families, etc. So what? In this case, you had: cops who hid behind pillars rather than run inside and use their own guns to save kids: guardians who let a grieving teenager store guns in their house; and FBI that ignored detailed, reliable tips, etc. Calling imperfect babies “dregs” doesn't make them disappear. How about expecting adults to act like adults?

$50,000 is normal?

And yet even Satan can do that. Still he goes to hell.

I'm not so quick to let Big Pharma and Big Medicine off the hook.
I'm not sure why "Big Pharma and Big Medicine" is ON the hook.
The equation:
Crazy are diagnosed crazy.
Crazy people are put on Drug to help crazy people not be crazy.
Crazy people stop taking meds that help not be crazy.
Crazy people shoots other people.
More crazy people blame "Big Pharma" and "Big Medicine" for Crazy people shooting other people.
Is it because the meds didn't work as designed or they DID work as designed?

It is a shame but these children are generally damaged goods and the root of a life time of heartache for anyone who tries to help them. I have seen it too many times and have never known of a single situation where someone who has taken pity on a child of horrible circumstances that does not get the very short end of the stick. As a first hand witness to the outcomes I have seen ZERO for Four. One took a long time of struggles but finally ended in tragedy. The other three just took a lot less time.
In these cases, when it comes to a question of nature vs. nurture, nature wins. You can’t beat chemical’s in vivo damage or genetics. At least I’ve never seen it turn out well though I’m guessing someone has but not often.

Objection, assuming facts not in evidence.
The kid most likely only had the option of killing many others because he was adopted by a rich family. Yes, there were multiple failures is this case because “adults” did not make choices to prevent the outcome.
