“”Never forget the islamic terrorist attack on the school in Breslan, Russia””

Beslan, Russia..are the only two words that need to be said each and every time something like the FL school shootings happen. After Beslan, there is no call for this country or any country/child or parent to have to go through such a thing again.

I love the idea of signs being posted that personnel at schools are armed. Why not? Whether true or not. Signs are posted on fences to beware of dangerous dogs - whether true or not.

I don’t like that some school boards have to give approval for any teacher to be armed. No offense to school board members here but I wouldn’t trust them to make a correct decision about anything - too much politics involved in their jobs and they are always looking at greener pastures in the political arena.

First, school boards have the ultimate responsibility to protect the children in my opinion. It's something that hasn't been addressed fully in the Coward County tragedy, but it will be done by folks like us. We already know they instituted this decriminalization of crime for the money. But what else did they do or not do to both educate and protect the children entrusted with them?

Second, I like the idea of school boards being proactive and in a sense taking legal responsibility for arming teachers/staff. Teachers will be acting with their express purmission and if some tragedy befalls someone, and that is alwyays a possibility, the school board is part of that decision.

Years ago, the SRO in one of our schools managed to take off her equipment belt in the bathroom and then stupidly walked out of the ladies room, leaving it hanging inside the bathroom stall. No harm was done when a student spotted it and reported it to a teacher and principal. But the red faced SRO was put on early retirement by the county. These sort of things will happen as more and more school staff are armed; we're all human.
