"The governor of the state has no control whatsoever on how a particular sheriff’s office is run."

Per Article IV, Para. 7 of the Fla. Constitution, the governor *does* have the power to remove the sheriff.

My reference is Florida Statutes, Title X, Article 112.51. It uses the term "suspend" not "remove".

Article IV, Section 7, of the State Constitution also uses the term "suspend", not "remove". In fact, Section 7 is titled: Suspensions; filling office during suspensions.
