I am in Illinois, and we are not allowed to have security cameras except at the front door of the schools looking out.
I have argued for these to be installed in hallways and lunchrooms, as we have had many altercations and cases of violence with “no witnesses” even though dozens were standing around.
We are told by our school board that it is illegal under state law to photograph or video tape children, thus cameras cannot be used in schools.
I am confident Illinois high school football teams are routinely videoed and player highlights posted all over youtube. There must be more to it. Or maybe less to it.
