Wayne LaPierre, the head of the NRA, broke his silence a week after the Florida school shooting with an unrepentant defence of gun rights and an aggressive attack on political elites who “hate individual freedom”. LaPierre used his address to the conservative conference CPAC to hit out at anti-gun campaigners, who, led by young survivors of the shooting, have attempted to make political headway in the last week.
“They fantasise about more laws stopping what other laws have failed to stop,” the National Rifle Association executive vice-president said. “So many existing laws were ignored.” He added: “They don’t care if their laws work or not. They just want to get more laws to get more control over people. But the NRA, the NRA does care.”
LaPierre also hit out at the “breathless national media” which he said was “eager to smear the NRA in the midst of genuine grief”. Elites want to “eliminate our firearms freedoms and eradicate all the individual freedoms”, he said. “They hate the NRA, they hate the second amendment, they hate individual freedom.”

Yep. Not just the second. They want to get around the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th and any other amendment that’s inconvenient. Of course they want the 10th when that’s the convenient position (for illegals, or pot, or other liberal causes) It’s all about “the correct gov’t” having control and individuals not being able to exercise our rights.
When Wayne was first presented as a candidate for President of the NRA, I wasn’t too sure.

Just heard a bit of his speech on a local mid-morning radio talk show.
Furthermore, they aren't stupid about our history and traditions. The American Revolutionary War heritage of "hiding behind rocks and trees", our unique tactics that brought down the tyranny of the British Crown....is NOT lost on them.
The line in the sand is the American rifle. The Brits tried to confiscate them, and the elites have been attempting to repeat this folly ever since.

Liberalism is a religion that places Government as God. Because of that, It’s not surprising that they continue to believe more laws are the answer. Writing and passing more laws is their form of prayer and supplication.

No. While they hate these things what they really hate is the reality of an armed American populace. That hate is born of fear, the same fear the Japanese had during WWII.
