Six officers are on the Konawaena High School campus today following a possible threat of a school shooting.
West Hawaii Area Complex Superintendent Art Souza said officials are trying to set a tone that there never was a legitimate threat.
“When something like this happens, you want to take the maximum level of security and precaution without causing mass hysteria,” he said.
Police received a report about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday of a posting on social media by a male party that made a reference to “shooting up local schools.”
Although the posting did not contain a specific school, the juvenile was found to be connected with Konawaena High School.
At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody by Ka’u police officers. He was subsequently charged with second-degree terroristic threatening. The boy was subsequently released to his parents as he did not qualify for further detention.

I was substitute teaching in one of the affected schools today - many students were kept home.
The punk was released?! The little prick should be flogged in public... on television. This country has lost its will to survive... pathetic.
I hope they didn’t take any guns. I’d hate for our precious little ones to have to attend a school that looked like a prison. Is just not worth the scary message it sends the children....

So it should come as no surprise that there are threats to shoot up such target rich institutions as their "Gun-free" schools.

The FBI should visit that police dept. for training on how to locate someone through threats made on a social media post. They apparently don’t have that knowledge.
Reading between the lines. My take on this is that some words were written containing the words “shooting up local schools” and in the current irrational state of mass hysteria the idiots went into “zero tolerance” mode and did what any hysterical red blooded insane maniac would do, have the kid arrested.
Like in airports, when you see your friend Jack, and yell “HI Jack!” and they arrest you for terrorism.
Mass hysteria.
The lame stream media will keep stirring the pot til the next shooting......then the talking points can be, “If Trump would have done after the last shooting”........
