Its en vogue for enraged liberals to compare Trumpism to Argentine Peronism, wielding the analogy as a warning about the potential apocalypse that they fear is about to engulf us. Most recently it was Larry Summers, a member of the Democratic establishment for decades, who took to Twitter to declare: I worry about the Argentinization of US government.
Summers sent the tweet after President Trump accused Democrats of treason and the media reported on the presidents childish wishes for a military parade. He employed a standard characterization of Peronism as an authoritarian movement, a familiar depiction that no doubt had many Americans nodding along.
Its not only Democrats who treat Peronism as the poster child for dangerous authoritarianism. In April 2009, Rush Limbaugh weighed in on the imminent government bailout of General Motors and Chrysler: The president of the United States, Barack Perón, will announce his Argentinian-like takeover of Chrysler. Even more thoughtful scholars have recently argued that Perón shows how Trump could destroy our democracy without tearing it down.
Like so many familiar historical cliches, however, this one is incomplete, if not downright wrong. It ignores that the core of Peronism was a vision that is the exact opposite of Trumpism. Peronism led a process of expanding economic equality, collective organization and political enfranchisement. Trumpism, by contrast, builds upon American tendencies toward inequality, individualism and political disengagement.
In fact, the comparison reveals more about Democrats than about Trump. Although the more liberal party, Democrats prioritize safeguarding liberal institutions over advancing policy goals such as greater economic equality. In fact, they equate many efforts to achieve these goals such as Peronism with dangerous authoritarianism.
Peronism, and movements like it, undoubtedly remake society and politics, from ideas to institutions. But such challenges pose less of a threat to democracy

So this clown’s beef is that The President isn’t a communist.
You talk like you don’t realize that were in a life and death struggle for our constitutional republic.
ICYMI, The left are on the cusp of winning their war against America.
How’s Trump’s dictate Mr Seman?
I don’t think being a cheerleader for the left is helping your argument.
In fact, you’re proving my point.
I think you’re the poster who’s constantly going on about how great the left is doing in trying to destroy our country.
Inequality. They are pushing for equality of outcomes (i.e. more votes). We are pushing for equality under the law.
Individualism. They are pushing for collectivism. We are pushing for FREEDOM . HELL YES!
Political disengagement. Not sure what this idiot is trying to say. I think he's P.O.ed that not more of us are not falling for his progressive propaganda.
His parent's failed big time. They raised a boob.
Reason is not your strong suit, obviously.
The left have destroyed the country. Pull till ya hear a pop and then clean up.
As they say, “it is better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt.”
There is no doubt anymore about the author of this article.
Well, they have their new meme.
Of course he is. All tyrants strive to make sure the citizens keep their guns and what dictator doesnt slash government regulations immediately upon seizing power?
They say Fascist, dictator, etc, without any facts.

Saw a cartoon today with PDT ‘looking bewildered’ and ‘saying’
You say I am Hitler Yet you demand I take your guns
(close, gist there)
You sure sound happy about your delusion that the anti Americans are winning.
Obama Calls For Democracy With A Small d
Obama: The Future Must Not Belong To Those Who Slander The Prophet Of Islam
What we Americans say to you is what happened to getting Hillary elected?
2016 showed us the stupidity of the anti American side.
The biggest proof of their stupidity is they hate the greatest country in the world, and they don’t understand why.
They have no clue what’s going on in their own mind.
“Duhhh, I hate the United States because they killed Hitler, and they stopped slavery,”
Just brilliant.
