I can assure you I am not lower class and that the kids that end up at Stanford and Harvard are not “whipped” but are raised in a reasonable fashion.

This is funny. Guess what? You aren't in every such home. My father, and his mother and father, and his grandfather, ALL went to Stanford and many to Harvard Law School thereafter. I got the belt a few times LOL, but it was never out of anger, it was when I effed up bad enough. That taught me to not do such things that the belt came out.

I never thought of that as abuse; I thought, rightfully, that it meant I should never do the stupid thing I had done ever again.

You may have good intentions, but your "low class" comments don't exactly make you look "high class."

OK dude, I am a lawyer too and do family law. I am speaking from experience. The guy that inspired my comments was bragging about whipping his daughters with a belt, calling it “spanking” which it is not. I am impressed by your grandmother going to Stanford and Harvard Law and would ask you how often she got hit with a belt and would wager to guess the answer is never.
