Makes me think of a piece from John Lott that I read recently. Apparently, Dylan Klebold (one of the perpetrators of the 1999 bloody rampage at Columbine High School) had discussions about guns and politics with his father and both very much opposed laws that made it easier for law abiding citizens to legally obtain permits to carry concealed handguns. The young Klebold was strong enough in his opposition to such laws that it was to the point he was supposedly reconsidering his initial interest in attending university in Arizona as that state had at the time recently passed this sort of legislation.
Lott also noted that Klebold and Harris carried out their horrible act on the same day that the Colorado state legislature was supposed to discuss (and very likely pass with the Governor’s support) concealed carry legislation and that they had initially meant to carry out the rampage at a later date but regarded the legislation as a potential threat to their plans.
Holy cow...I didn’t know that.
