It sounds like an excellent project for a Sunday!
Yes, it does. Sally found some curiosities, including a “Cherokee freedman.” I don’t know if that means a person of Cherokee descent who was a slave (presumably due to having a mother who was a slave) or a person owned by Cherokees.
Freedman is an actual term meaning a freed slave. Some slaves opted to keep the surnames of their owners and some opted for the name “Freeman,” while still others opted for “Freedman.”
There is an actual Freedman’s Bank that kept detailed records of the freed slaves who opened accounts there. It is a veritable gold mine, so if the “curiosity” that Sally found is in the family line, I could start there, as I have the CDs of the Freedman’s Bank records.
Thanks. I think so to. I don’t think a terrorist would try to hit the same building. But Mrs. ArGee thinks the fact that we re-built it means they have to re-destroy it.
Kitteh 1 to Base. Kitteh 1 to Base. Iranians are fueling missile. Over.
“I have the CDs of the Freedmans Bank records.”
Of course you do. I told Sally you had everything!
Good thing you don’t have the job yet ...
Regarding naming things, see this post. Substitute gecko for cat.
Funny. Cats will at least occasionally come when you call though.
Well, if I DON’T have everything its because I lack the funds to GET everything! LOL! I have everything I can afford and most of that has been free. Except for the Personal Ancestral File upgrade I had to buy. Some things, even though they are “free” are actually priceless.
The chocolate raspberry cocoa just came! Included in the package was a sample of dark chocolate cocoa. Now I have to try and decide which one I want to drink first!
(decisions, decisions)
I hope you decided upon both!
Oh, look! Two floofies!
Good morning.
The urge to go to Walmart at 0400 will be difficult to quell. The best I can do now is to go make faces at whoever opens up at 0600. :o|
I could have gone to Walmart at 0400, but I was asleep. As soon as I finish breakfast (onion, garlic, eggs), I will go to sing at the Spanish Lent retreat and drop the boys off for a day of Scouting activity.
I forgot to check the Walmart in Hurricane to see if they are still open 24/7. I would really hate to change my schedule permanently! That would be awful! I’m also hoping that the new complex that I’m moving into will provide keys for those of us who like to do laundry early.
The last two days, I’ve packed up five more boxes, and plan to do at least three today. I need to get another tub, though, that much is evident. They’re handy for things that don’t fit into boxes. Such as my Galileo. It will fit diagonally in a tub.
I’d better do that this morning. I hope I have enough time to get another one plus the cooler on payday. I’ll have to check on the truck and tow dolly again to see if prices have changed much. At least I’ll be able to get a discount because of my AAA membership. That will help enormously.
It’s 37° out! Lablady sent me a text yesterday saying she is accepting a job offer in Colorado in April. She and her live-in are going to work for the same company. I wouldn’t want to be the one who has to pack up her fairy collection, for sure!
I think she wanted me to be upset that she is moving “so far away,” but she has to do what she has to do. It would be different if she visited once or twice a month (or once a week) but I seldom see her, so it doesn’t matter.
I hope it works out well for them.
I do, too. She has wanted to leave Vegas for a long time, but the husband who left her for someone else wanted to stay put because of his two kids who were still in school. Now that the kids are gone, the ex- is too, along with his new love.
So she can go, too. She’ll be close to a cousin in CO, but I don’t know if she’ll bother to make contact with him. They don’t have much in common.
And now, I’m off to Wally’s.
I got back from Walmart a while ago, but the laptop decided to update again, so I just shut it down and found some other things to do. What a nuisance.
Now, before I get side-tracked again, I’m going to try to get a couple more boxes packed. It’s the least I can do.
By the time I’m done, it should be warm enough to go out and sit with Charlie. Then I’ll come back in and pack at least one more box, then sit and work on another scarf.
