Palin Vindicated: GOP Sends IPAB to the Death Panel
spectator ^ | February 9, 2018, | DAVID CATRON

Despite what we read in the “news” media about GOP failure to repeal Obamacare, congressional Republicans and President Trump are dismembering the reviled healthcare law, limb by limb.

The latest appendage lopped off was its most dangerous — the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), investing unelected bureaucrats with power to “recommend” reductions in Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals. This would have inevitably reduced access to care for the elderly. That dangerous Obamacare provision was repealed this morning.

If you have heard of IPAB, it is because Sarah Paalin dubbed it the “death panel." Her crusade against IPAB is one of the primary reasons her public reputation was systematically destroyed by Democrats and their media toadies.

Just this morning the Washington Post trashed her:

.....Recall the hysteria over “death panels,” that infamous and terribly misleading descriptor coined by former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who contended the panel would lead to the rationing of care (even though the panel had no say over what services Medicare covers). Palin’s claim, which GOP candidates widely adopted to strike emotional chords with voters, was chosen by PolitiFact as its “Lie of the Year” back in 2009....

The claim that Palin’s statement was “misleading” is simply false. Here’s how rationing would have worked under IPAB: The board would “recommend” cutbacks in the amount a doctor gets paid for treating a Medicare patient. Because doctors already lose money on Medicare patients, a certain percentage would have to stop treating them in order to survive financially. Thus, Medicare patients would have had less access to care, and that would have been lethal to some.

Fortunately for seniors, congressional Republicans and President Trump didn’t need to have it named for them by the Democratic Party or its publicists at the Post and other alleged news outlets.

A despicable human and his henchmen killing Americans that paid into the system for a lifetime while giving it to non citizen illegals for free. We should be ashamed of ourselves allowing this to happen

If Jesus walked the earth today, the old media would do the same to him.

GWB tried to take on Social Security reform. Yet that effort died a sudden, quiet death that amazes and concerns me to this day. My take on that is this:

The Deep State came to the inescapable conclusion that the Social Security / Medicare problem was unsolvable, that the retirement of the boomers would sink the system to the depths of the Mariana Trench. Indeed, when it came time to harvest the Social Security “Trust” Fund in earnest, when those IOUs would be pulled for redemption from that file cabinet drawer kept somewhere in West Virginia (in a facility most likely containing Byrd in its name), the then-current generation of taxpayers would have no choice but to turn to eldercide for their financial survival. The tax rate to pay off the notes would be outrageous. It would be time to kill off grandma and grandpa.

I further believe that the IPAB in Pelosi-care (come on, do you think the Kenyan was the architect of the ACA? Has he ever done anything of a fraction of that magnitude?) was the cornerstone of this undocumented, unspoken “final solution” to the boomer retirement problem.

It also follows that the unfettered flood of illiterate masses from the turd-world was also part of the plan, hoping to prop up the inverted demographic pyramid of the payroll tax base to forestall fiscal armageddon. Of course, that presupposes that the wretched refuse would be taxpayers and not more mouths feeding at the entitlement trough.

My paycheck is still a few hundred short due to ObamaCare™. I’ll be glad when it’s all the way gone. Well, at least they can’t kill me now.

To Sarah's Insightful List.

Remember, to the Government you are one of two things.

A Source of Revenue

Or an Expense.

I am 66, paid into Medicare for around 50 years, and do have health problems. Pretty often I am required to sign a piece of paper saying, ‘Medicare does not pay for this, I will be reponsible for the payment’ (paraphrased). My supplemental usually does pay for what Medicare doesn’t pay for, but sometimes not. I think most people paying into Medicare now, think it will actually pay for their health care after age 65. Gla they are getting rid of IPAB. Socialized Medicine often DOES RATION CARE. Especially for the elderly, as the elderly are no longer paying into the system and aren’t valuable to Socialists.

The Deep State came to the inescapable conclusion that...[i]t would be time to kill off grandma and grandpa.

Insightful and cogent analysis, NVA.

And no, the Kenyan has never done anything even resembling real work. His only contribution to the laughably named Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was that he allowed his name to be used.

There's an old saying that comes to mind, but only because Obama never followed its pithy wisdom: "There are two types of people in the world: those who do the work, and those who get the credit. Try to be part of the first group: there's far less competition."

What fascinates me about BHO is that his entire adult life has been one instance of unearned accolade after another.

Smoke and mirrors have more substance than BHO. Cow patties have more profundity. And yet, look at what the IPAB would have accomplished whilst under the cover of the "Obamacare" label: the very killing off of grandma and grandpa you highlight.

Had Trump not triumphed in November 2016, I dare say the death spiral would have consumed not just our elderly, but the very Republic itself.

Search on Liverpool pathway and you will find stories on Englands death panels.
You show up at a hospital you will not get food, water or medicine because your name is on a list. You and your family do not know about the list.

If you call for help at home no one will show up, if you are at a hospital you may end up in a ambulance in the parking lot for many hours or in a hallway as there are no beds.

120,000 people a year are being killed. The local papers there had many stories of this. The NHS response was to rename the Liverpool pathway to something else.

Indeed. You're sarcastic comment is spot-on. Funny how some grifters get all the breaks, isn't it?

But you know, there's something else to consider: there may be reason to, of all things, pity BHO. I know, I know: why waste your pity on someone so self-absorbed?

Still, I invite you to consider: is it not possible that deep down, somewhere buried under those many layers of hyper-narcissism, there exists in the drug-addled brain of Barack Hussein Obama (mmm, mmm, Mmmm!) the terrible knowledge that he is indeed the empty suit sitting on an empty chair? Just as Clint Eastwood depicted at the GOP Convention?

Obama famously proclaimed, "You didn't build that!" And, as odious as this assertion was, was it more motivated by his own knowledge that his various accomplishments were illusions than it was motivated by a true belief in any "spread the wealth" nonsense? Is it possible that he knows, deep inside, that without the same amount of carcass-dragging support which Hillary received up those stairs (or into that van), he would still be some pot-smoking do-nothing moldering away in Chicago?

Bottom line, money is just a tool. Yes, money is a handy--and often a very necessary--tool. But it simply can not give fulfillment.

On a political level I want Obama, Hillary, Pelosi, Schumer, and all their fellow travelers defeated; on a criminal level I want them held to account. But on a personal level, I actually pity them. Their craven lust for power, for money, and for dominion over others demonstrates, to me, that they are truly empty inside. Their souls are not overflowing with fulfillment so much as overrun with emptiness and an emotional cancer. Their outer shells, however well-coiffed they may appear, are but paper-thin shells poorly covering a rank and rotting stench inside.

If that's not a reason to pity them, nothing is.

Just my long-winded 2¢. Cheers.
