>>Holland got sick about a week ago and took medication, but delayed picking up the prescription due to the $116 copay

Got diagnosed and opted to “heal thy self”.

How did she “take medication” if sh didn’t pick up the prescription? Or did she wait until payday to pick up the prescription? Could she have opted for a partial dispensation (say 4 days supply instead of 10 day) to begin immediate treatment?

It sounded like she delayed picking it up, but Tamiflu is only effective (if it is at all), started within the first 48 hrs. I wonder if she knew that.

No one anticipates dying from the flu...I suspect no one informed her that failure to take this medication immediately could result in death...

And 116 bucks co-pay for an anti-biotic??? They must be charging the insurance company 7 or 8 hundred bucks for this stuff...

Article says she "took medication" - not "took the prescription medication." So she was probably swallowing aspirin, etc. - but allegedly didn't have enough money to purchase the high-powered perscription medication that, presumably, would have saved her.

Reading comprehension, sheesh!

Regards,

Like my Type 2 Diabetic son with no health ins, no manager’s job, as the franchise owner decided to sudenly shut the doors throwing his employees out of a job. OTC THERA FLU and Tylenol. Wonder he didn’t die of a Diabetic Coma didn’t eat for 5 days lost 45 lbs. Now can’t afford his Diabetic med or test strips. A single man can’t get Medicaid. 16 yr old grandson does not know when to call grandma for medical reasons where his dad is concerned. Chewed him out royally and gave orders that he is to call me any time his dad is sick. I’ve already buried 2 of my children and sure don’t want to add a third to that list for lack of a few $$ or not being informed of an illness.
