Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused - life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?

A Weinstein thread is just not complete without that picture of Oprah with Weinstein and a young woman who appears to be his next “conquest”.
Regarding RAPE accusations...there are a few, including from a non-actress:
“Zelda Perkins, Harvey Weinsteins former assistant who accused him of raping a Miramax colleague 19 years ago, has called for a change in the law around non-disclosure agreements after branding Weinstein a repulsive monster and master manipulator in her first televised interview.”
My point is, if it was just “casting couch” stuff, why all these legal measures taken to protect him beforehand? Why hush money to the victims who accused him?
Clintons seem to be immune from this trend otherwise Hillary and Bill would not be aloud to show their faces inthe public!
Agreed. Well Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons is in deep deep trouble. He’s supposedly hiding out at some yoga retreat in Bali now...
My wife and I have been labelled as the international Grandparents.
Kids of all ages, we know and don’t know act like we are their grandparents and want to be hugged and held by us.
On advice from a good lawyer not a rat one, we now restrict our returns to high fives or fist bumps.
What? Trump is acting like secret courts executing secret law where you don’t have a right to any representation is Un-American or something. Or that the government claiming a right to seize and store every word written isn’t American as apple pie...... It must be in the federalist papers somewhere.
A: Nothing, you done told her twice.
A fair point.
I merely asked a question. Maybe someone knows the answer.
There isn’t any due process for those who are not in a government-certified victim group. The accused male is automatically guilty, and is made to resign. The accuser knows that she will never be held accountable for her lies, and that the accused can never bring her to justice.
If you violate any norm of political correctness, and you’re not in a privileged group, you’re gone, done, toast. You have no recourse, no defense.
Meh...the powerful men you whine about have been constantly besieged by craven women, using sex as a tool for their personal advancement. It has always been so.
Now relating their “metoo” story, they get even more power and position.... which ironically enough, was their initial goal when they traipsed up to Weinstein’s or Cosby’s hotel room.
#MeToo is getting out of hand, but remember in terms of your employment there is little or no “due process”.
The behavior leading to the creation of the #MeToo issue is a form of corruption. Stigmatized and salacious corruption it is true, but corruption nonetheless. It needs to be investigated and prosecuted as such. There needs to be due process as well as penalties for bad behavior (instead of promotions and other rewards which believe it or not, is the norm).
If this issue is treated in this manner it will bring needed certainty to what constitutes a prosecutable offense and what does not. It will calm the whole thing the heck down. It will increase the business friendliness of the environment (since corruption is not conducive to that).
People should not be fired on an accusation. The alleged victim should be protected and the alleged perp should no longer have contact with them without punishing either party until a determination is made about what happened exactly.
The Democrats want this to be weaponized because they want to remove Republicans from jobs in Washington and fill them with Democrats instead.
didn’t you ask about rape?! I just said yes there was an even outright rape accusation from 19 years ago on the part of a colleague. not an actress.
Nasser’s victims were young girls in gymnastics seeking medical attention and physical therapy...hundreds. Some of whom had parents and churches didn’t even believe them.
Weinstein’s accusations go decades back even from non-actresses. (A colleague at Miramax in U.K. accused him of rape 19 years ago.) She was given hush money.
I remember sexual assault being actual sexual assault, now its just looking at a woman with a grin, that is considered assault now..apparently now assault is the “In” thing, like Pogs
Yes, but not for the little guy. Women have choice, but men have no choice in pregnancy.
Solution: Men, take your DNA with you. Use condoms and spermicide unless you want to be subject to child support. There are debtor's prisons with regard to such.
The courts will side with the woman, even in cases of gross negligence of taking pills, whatever.
Never leave yourself open to that.
Take the condom with you. Do not trust women. (In general)
However, my recollection is that one cannot make an enforceable contract which obligates a person to violate the law nor can one make such a contract which affords one party the consideration of another performing a legal obligation.
A broad definition of prostitution would include any act which trades sexual gratification for some other valuable consideration.
One might make the claim that starlets who agree to provide sexual favors to Weinstein in return for career advancement are prostituting themselves and that the recipient is guilty of soliciting prostitution.
With such a broad understanding of "prostitution" then those who contract with Weinstein to satisfy claims on behalf of Weinstein would be contracting to financially cover the consequences of law-breaking.
I still fail to see how feminists who support abortion as an act which is protected by issues of privacy don't also view prostitution as a a similar act. Consistency seems to be an under-valued attribute.
