I just wonder why there aren’t more rank and file Democrats gong out on this limb with Schiff and Schumer.

At some point one dem somewhere is going to say "I think we need a special counsel to investigate the FISA abuse". It might not even be an obscure Dem. Grassley wrote an excellent letter explaining that there was nothing but Steele in the Page warrant application. Grassley is pursuasive.

Once that happens, that's it for the Dem narrative. Mueller will continue but a parallel investigation will taint a lot of Mueller evidence.
