Minnesota Democratic Rep. Rick Nolan announced Friday he won't seek re-election, handing Republicans a rare opportunity to pick up a seat this fall. "There is a time and a purpose for everything and now is the time for me to pass the baton to the next generation," Nolan said in a statement. Nolan won re-election by about 2,000 votes in 2016, but northeastern Minnesota's 8th District is Donald Trump country: The President won the district by 16 percentage points over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. That was an incredible 22-point swing for the GOP over the 2012 election results, when Barack Obama won the district by six points.

More likely he is not seeking reelection due to being a sexual predator.
We must get some strong candidates running for office. From the military, industry, or good local politicians - but we some who love the country and conservationism above fame and fortune.
This is a good opportunity for a GOP pickup.

The RNC should identify people like Stauber and work to get him elected. They are good at raising money and should be wise in spending it on winners.
Or because he’s getting to be in his late 70s. Sometimes it’s just time to go home.
And the GOP will find a way to screw it up AGAIN. We have a couple elections on Monday and I can’t wait to hear the handwringing saying, “oh but it is only 1 election” that we hear weekly.

Don’t care about “Rick who”. I’m surprised that there are area of Marxist Minnesota that aren’t red havens and jihadist territory, given the history of the state.
