The honor of which American athlete would carry the American flag for Team USA at the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics came down to a coin flip today in Pyeongchang. And the athlete on the losing end of that flip is not pleased.
Speed skater Shani Davis decided to not participate in todays ceremonies after he lost the flip to luger Erin Hamlin.
Davis took to Twitter and evoked African American history month in his commentary on the events.
I am an American and when I won the 1000m in 2010 I became the first American to 2-peat in that event. @TeamUSA dishonorably tossed a coin to decide its 2018 flag bearer. No problem. I can wait until 2022. #BlackHistoryMonth2018#PyeongChang2018pic.twitter.com/dsmTtNkhJs Shani Davis (@ShaniDavis) February 8, 2018

Oh look a whining AA . How unique.
If PIAPS had won, there would have been no coin flip. The woman would have been “ordained” flag bearer and this guy would have been “brought to heel” and told to either shut up or be kicked off the team.
Scott Hamilton and a few others.
He is incredibly talented and has won multiple gold medals in the past. He also seems to be a complete moron and whiner. This is not the first time he has acted like a butt hole at the olympics. Shame he didn't flee to Canada when Trump won: Some people should just defect.
When I was a kid I loved the Olympics. I saw it as the great showdown between the USA and the Communist Eastern Bloc Nations. Especially the USSR. Now? Blah. I have no interest anymore. Who cares? I’m sick of the drama coming from these ‘athletes’.
The Lavar Ball of speed skating.
K-Mart bluelight special, hit it crybaby snowflake....!
I love how they used his own words in the quote to make him sound stupid: two-peat. LoL. Three-peat is made up for when you repeat a third time, and is even a little clever. But, he can just stick with “repeat”. Knucklehead. I’m glad he’s not out there marching to represent us. Good riddance.
Don’t invite him back on the team. There’s more to sportsmanship than winning, bragging about it, and whining when people don’t respond with the desired gibs in response.
“...He is incredibly talented and has won multiple gold medals in the past......”
No denying he has the talent. That was the past, this is now. He’s older and the competition is keener. Does he still have his edge to win as he has in the past? Maybe..maybe not. IF he does lose, he’ll probably be crying “racist” over that too.
He doesn’t respect the flag. He wants the to be in an exalted position
... And more stupid journalism: “Hamlin is the first woman to carry the flag since 2006”.
So, she’s not the first woman to carry the flag. Shall we restart the count of female firsts each day?
Note to the bloody enemedia: What the HECK does the sex of the flag bearer matter?! When I used to watch, I watched for the skill of the competitors. I figured everyone on the team must be pretty awesome. Sex had nothing to do with it.
AAAAARGH.
I’m a chick, but I HATE the chickification of sports.
He’s showing no class.
You are wrong. Scott Hamilton?
Doesn’t he realize he’s hurting his professional image?
When he’s done skating around in circles at the olympics, and applies for a job in corporate America as a .. um... er... never mind.

The Olympics need real men representing it.
You know people like Bruce Jenners.
Bruce ("Caitlyn") Jenner is more of a real man, even now, than Shani Davis will ever be.
And that's saying something.
