White House Staff Secretary Resigns Over Abuse Allegations

White House staff secretary Rob Porter resigned Tuesday after two of his ex-wives came forward accusing him of abuse while they were married to him.

Porter called the allegations “simply false” before thanking the president for the opportunity to serve in the White House and announcing he would be leaving, reports Axios.

“These outrageous allegations are simply false. I took the photos given to the media nearly 15 years ago and the reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described. I have been transparent and truthful about these vile claims, but I will not further engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign,” Porter said, adding he would be working as hard as possible to ensure a “smooth transition” as he leaves the White House.

Porter’s first wife, Colbie Holderness, accused the White House staff secretary of having been “verbally, emotionally and physically abusive and that is why I left” in an interview with the Daily Mail. His second wife, Jennifer Willoughy, said he physically assaulted her during their marriage and she was constantly scared of his anger.

Why is anyone quitting over allegations?

I wonder this, myself. Much of the discussion of the "Me Too" movement seems to take the position that the women have some kind of power over the men. They don't. This man's ex-wives can't make him or his employer do anything. The manicurist (?) to whom Steve Wynn paid millions of dollars didn't make him resign from his position.

These men, for whatever reason, are making their own decisions.

“My guess there is more to this than allegations”

We don’t know the truth of the allegations but two unsuccessful marriages, both ex’es say he beat them up ... I’d say he’s worse than average at choosing his women.

He must be good at his political jobs. Beyond that I don’t know anything about him.

Never heard of him either. Thought I paid pretty good attention. This was the lead story and only D.C. story on CBS This Morning intro.
“What did Trump know and when did he know it?”
Good grief.

Right. His exes would’ve been interviewed when he was being considered for a White House job. If the exes said he was A-OK during the interview, then they lied to the FBI. (It was the FBI who invertigated for DH’s clearances.) You can’t lie to the FBI. Of course, the FBI can lie, but that’s another story.

If the ladies told the truth, then he shouldn’t have been in that job.

“And then there’s the Access Hollywood tape.”

Puh-leeze. DJT didn’t say HE had done that, but you’re going with the Rat talking points.

My understanding is that that is what happened. The White House--particularly John Kelly--was defending this guy right up until the moment the photo of one of his exes with the black eye showed up in the media. Then they all ran away from him.

No. You’re opening up the door to the Rat talking points. What if he did stick his finger in some woman’s vagina, with her consent. Bill did much worse, many times over. Will only celibates or people who have been monogamous and faithful to their wives throughout their lives be fit to be POTUS or serve in the WH? What if, while their marriage was crumbling he smacked Marla Maples one across the face. It might happen. Nothing like love gone wrong to bring out the worst in a body. You are opening a can of worms here that could have been used even against Ronaldus Magnus, who also divorced his first wife.

The occupants of the WH and their staff are only human. If, in their distant path, they misbehaved, it is relevant only to the extent that it is germaine or likely to be germaine to their conduct while serving.

Thus, the Access Hollywood tape is irrelevant, even if arguendo he were describing his typical night’s entertainment at that time. That was then. This is now. The voters saw the tape and passed judgment on it, and thus far their judgment has been vindicated. DJT is conducting himself like a gentleman towards his female staff, some of whom are high ranking.

Bill, on the other hand, stuck a cigar you-know-where in a young intern’s anatomy. It was consensual, but he did it in the Oval Office and suborned perjury to hide it. Ergo, he’s a pig and should have been tossed out on his ear. Likewise LBJ and JFK, who also used their high office to womanize.

Porter should have fought back. It’s the same type of garbage that bought the Democrats a Seanate seat in Alabama, and its not going to stop until innocent men stop running away.

I question the timing.

The claims are old, why is it now news?
