Conservative Treehouse suggested that the “affair” story was their own made up cover for why someone from the FBI and someone from the DOJ were working so closely together. Note that neither has gotten divorced since their own planted news of their own affair became public.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no mention of an affair in Peter Strzok and Lisa Page's text messages.

You would think there would have been some message like, "when are we going to get together again? I really miss you, baby". But no, there is nothing like that in Strzok/Page texts.

I agree that the affair story is just a cover story.

The IG has sorted the texts and kept (and released) the ones that are useful for his investigation. He had no reason to keep or release any others.
