"Carter W. Page worked for ultra liberal NY Senator Patrick Moynihan"

I wouldn't call Moynihan ultra liberal. He was truly a moderate Dems back in the day when we had moderate dems. He's the one we have to thank for that famous quote "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts."

To further show he was not a liberal, here's another one of his quotes: "Somehow liberals have been unable to acquire from life what conservatives seem to be endowed with at birth; a healthy skepticism of the powers of government agencies to do good."

One of the biggest red flags in the background of Carter Page is that in the past decade he was serving as Director of the "Globalization and International Affairs" program for Bard College (note the prominence of promoting "Globalization" not exactly a pro-Trump theme!!). In case you don't know Bard, it is one of the most purely left-wing colleges in the USA, similar to Evergreen and Reed. This is not conclusive, but I have strong doubts that he could have been appointed or retained there unless he had the most reliable left-liberal bona fides. Here he is in Nov. 2008 giving a presentation to Bard people on how to get ahead in the new Obama administration:

The presentation will include a discussion of the opportunities that these changes offer for junior personnel within a new administration as well as steps BGIA is taking to adapt to the opportunities that the 2008 election has created for the next generation of foreign policy practitioners.
