Everybody loves a parade.

Except the participants. When I was on active duty, I hated parades, and visits to my base by Congress critters. Both events guaranteed hours of extra work that blew up my training schedule for usually a week.

Those who have never endured a parade have no idea of the preparation time it requires. It's one royal PITA for those participating, but feel free to disagree with me.

I disagree with you. As a youngster and as a teenager, I marched in many parades on the fourth of July. Year long drilling and hard work and practice as well as sore feet and blisters were the rewards of continued effort towards perfection. LOVED being a part of something great. NEVER regretted the problems incurred in practicing. Seems my generation was more given to honoring our country than the wimps of today.
