Donald Trump Jr. Tuesday tweeted his support for Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush in his Republican primary campaign against his predecessor, Jerry Patterson, whose son is one of the pilots of Marine One, the Marine Corps helicopter that transports President Donald Trump.
In the tweet, the presidents son says that, Elections are about choices. In 2016, @GeorgePBush endorsed @realDonaldTrump and campaigned for him. His opponent attacked Trump and urged him quit the race. Texas conservatives have a clear choice: Bush for Texas Land Commissioner.
Bush responded with his own tweet, Thank you @DonaldJTrumpJr were working hard alongside @realDonaldTrump conservative agenda in Texas to #MakeAmericaGreatAgain.
Last Tuesday, the night of the State of the Union, Bush tweeted, In 2016, I endorsed Donald Trump and campaigned for him because I believed he could help #MAGA. Tonight in his #SOTU he again showed why our country needed new direction. @txglo, I am enacting conservative reforms and working alongside the Trump agendathank you @POTUS
Bush, the grandson of President George H.W. Bush and the nephew of George W. Bush, is the last member of the family dynasty to hold political office. He is the son of Jeb Bush, who was the front-runner for the Republican nomination for president in 2016 until Donald Trump, belittling him as Low Energy Jeb, came along.
Patterson was not enamored with Trump, wrote in Evan McMullin, a Utah conservative, who ran as a anti-Trump independent, for president in 2016, and decided not to run for a seat on the Texas Railroad Commission that year because he found the prospect of running on a ticket headed by Trump unappealing.
I didnt know if that was something I could do if Trump were the nominee and I had to defend him, Patterson said Tuesday.
Patterson has since formed a somewhat more positive impression of Trump thanks to his son, Lt. Col. Travis Lee Patterson.
My son is one of his pilots on Marine One and has very good things to say about him and his demeanor as the commander-in-chief, Patterson said.
Also, Patterson said, Trumps appointments, with one or two exceptions, have been sterling.
It proves that even people our age, and Donald are I the same age, can grow up and Im working on it myself, Patterson said.
Of the exchange of tweets between Donald Trump Jr. and George P. Bush, Patterson said, What that tells me is that Bush is extremely concerned and I dont know how that can be because he put out a poll that said I only had 4 percent.
Nice try but I ain’t buyin.
Patterson voted for Evan McMullin. Enough said.
I'd rather support a "carpetbagger"—named Bush—who voted for Donald Trump than a #NeverTrumper who voted for Evan McMullin, for God's sake...
Bad move.
No more Bush League Republicans hell bent on turning the USA into North Mexico.
The only Trump child with two citizen parents is Tiffany.
Also, George P.being half Mexican
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Correct, his mother was a Mexican national when he was born and he was born with Mexican nationality.
People born with multiple nationalities are naturally not natural born citizens.
The conservative reform he tried was to try to take over the Alamo from the group that runs it.
I agree with everything you said re: Bush.
Nonsense. Your assertion is not the currently accepted precedent.
George P. Bush was born in Houston, Texas, to an American father, and as such is as Natural Born as you and I doubtlessly are. His situation differs from that of Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada, but is also very likely to be Natural Born.
Inasmuch as George P. Bush is not running for President, I guess that debate isn't too critical right now, but if it was, this information from Wikipedia is informative (emphasis added):
The U.S. Constitution uses but does not define the phrase "natural born Citizen", and various opinions have been offered over time regarding its precise meaning. The consensus of early 21st-century constitutional scholars, together with relevant case law, is that natural-born citizens include, subject to exceptions, those born in the United States. Many scholars have also concluded that those who meet the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship "at the moment of birth", regardless of place of birth, are also natural-born citizens. [2][3] Every president to date was either a citizen at the adoption of the Constitution in 1789 or was born in the United States; of those in the latter group, there have been seven that had at least one parent who was not born on U.S. soil.You could have a Supreme Court composed entirely of nine "strict constructionists"—unanimously selected by a panel composed of Mark Levin, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas—and they would rule 9-0 that George P. Bush is a Natural Born Citizen, and therefore eligible for the Presidency.
Thus, your interpretation of what constitutes a "Natural Born Citizen" is downright whimsical.
What are you trying to pull?
"Every president to date was either a citizen at the adoption of the Constitution in 1789 or was born in the United States; of those in the latter group, there have been seven that had at least one parent who was not born on U.S. soil."
Who knows, maybe he’s the Steven Baldwin of the Bush family....
That would be the same George P. Bush who wants to do away with Confederate Heroes Day in Texas?
Yes... George P. Bush needs to return to Florida and take up some other cause like -”Save the Manatee.”
The apple did not fall far from the Bushie tree...
Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, visiting The Eagle on Texas’s Confederate Heroes Day, said he did not believe the state should continue to celebrate the holiday, noting that some consider it a “slap in the face” to celebrate heroes of the confederacy in the same week as Martin Luther King Jr.
This is the same problem that Palin had with the idea that “loyalty” meant endorsing McCain.
The problem is that loyalty like that is what gets us to, for example, the “Corrupt Bastards Club” that Palin once took down in Alaska.
“Oh, you did me a favor, so I’ll do what I can to get or keep you elected!”
Dad and Poppy are more than familiar with expedient politics to win election in TX.
I’m sure they were fine with their spawn following in the family tradition.
I don’t take Wikikpedia to be an authoritative source, you shouldn’t either.
Only one President before Obama has a questionable status and Chester A Arthur went to extreme lengths to hide the evidence.
Non citizen parents bequeath foreign citizenship.
Multiple citizenships naturally make one not a natural born citizen.
The issue is not whether the parent is born here, but whether both parents are citizens, owing no allegiance to any other sovereign.
Winston Churchill had an American mother, he is just as eligible as Ted Cruz.
Why then would Congress have bestowed honorary citizenship to him if he was a natural born citizen?
And wants to move the Cenotaph that honors those who died fighting for Texas to some place blocks away.
Tens of thousands of AmeriAsian children ( now adults) were born as the result of American GIs and foreign women. THEY DO NOT HAVE AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP. Some have appealed for residency in America.
Ted Cruz was born in Canada and resided there for at least seven years.
Rafael Cruz gave up his Cuban citizenship for Canadian citizenship prior to Ted’s birth. He admits this and refuses to comment regarding Ted’s mother’s status. Ted’s father finally became an American citizen about ten years ago., when Ted jumped into politics. Rafael has been a Canadian most of his life (35+ years) and a Cuban national for the first 30+ years. How is his son, born on foreign soil, considered natural born?
Eleanor Cruz declared and was verified a Canadian citizen which placed her and her husband on the voting rolls in Alberta, Canada. Prior to their time in Canada, she had British residency status for a decade. While campaign officials declared that Eleanor couldn’t have been a Canadian citizen, she has never actually denied her Canadian citizenship. The evidence indicates that she chose Canadian citizenship over the country of her birth.
It’s hard to understand how he could be considered an American citizen without a naturalization process. He is definitely not natural born to our soil.
Natural born citizen are NATURALLY citizens because there is no other possibility, born here of citizen parents.
No law or statute is necessary to establish citizenship. They are citizen by both jus soli (of the soil) and jus sanguine (of the blood), both are required to be a natural born citizen.
Many are citizens because of one or the other or some other action of law, but they are not natural born citizens.
Natural born citizen is a subset of citizen.
