He was not complaining about the lack of applause to his speech or him- he was complaining at the lack of support shown for this country.

As he said we are under one flag, it is one country. If they don’t support things that are improving, things that we should be celebrating as Americans- then it does seem like they don’t support the country.

Because they don't applaud him? Then does that mean during all of Obama's State of the Union addresses where the Republicans sat on their hands then were they not supporting the country either?

He was complaining about the lack of applause when he announced positive news about the country, i.e., low unemployment, rising stock market, etc. He was not criticizing them for failing to applaud policy proposals, etc.
