It was and wasn’t. The character was based on William Faulkner but was named Bill Mayhew.

- Martin is feeling a little uncomfortable around Edward:

Martin: What if he asks me on a date?

Frasier: I've got news for you - you're on a date!

- Niles is aghast at having to play Martin's 'boyfriend':

Niles: They think the best I can do is an old man with a cane!

He was very good.

But my word, he looked like he was 77 decades ago!
___

Yeah, Can’t believe he was only in his mid 50’s playing Martin Crane.

I can’t forgive him for signing up to play that over the top white supremacist dad in the most annoying liberal movie of all time:

When you're a character actor I think its pretty hard to walk away from a paycheck.

I was surprised by his age as well, particularly since Kelsey Grammar is only about 12 years younger than he is.

That’s what I was about to say, I’m amazed he wasn’t much older! Loved him.

We have re-watched Frazier a couple of times. It was very well written and the actors had impeccable timing. It holds up very well after all these years.

Agreed—talented acting and on-point writing.

One of the smarter shows out there.

Prayers to his family...He was a good actor...(and I don’t think I knew any political views of his...)
