Trump: Democrats 'un-American,' 'treasonous' for not applauding State of the Union speech
Washington Examiner ^ | Feb. 5, 2018

President Trump said Monday that Democratic lawmakers who did not applaud his State of the Union speech last week were "un-American" and "treasonous."

Trump, speaking in Ohio, recalled the silence from Democrats in Congress when he praised low unemployment among African-Americans and Hispanics.

"They would rather see Trump do badly, OK, than our country do well. That's what it means, it's very selfish," he said. "It got to a point where I really didn't even want to look too much during the speech over to that side, because honestly it was bad energy. No, it was bad energy.

Yes he does need to bring this. He speaks the truth. The democrats and all their progressive ilk want to destroy America. That is their goal.

It is a sad commentary on Republicans that none of them are man enough to match him.

There are no surrogate attack dogs. The only person I hear defending Trump and America with the same spirit is Don Jr.

You can count on one hand the number of Republicans who kick ass and play hardball like Trump. That is a sad commentary on his own appointees and Republicans in general. He really only has half assed patriots and mental midgets to work with.

It’s hard to decide which word gets overused more: traitor or racist.

The Donald will be at plus 55% approval by July providing the markets remain strong.

Dow's down 1200 today. That's twelve hundred, not one hundred twenty.

When a conservative calls a liberal a traitor that doesn’t make him a racist.

When a liberal calls a conservative a racist that does make him a traitor.

When a conservative calls a liberal a traitor that doesn’t make him a racist.

When a liberal calls a conservative a racist that does make him a traitor.

But the odds are both are wrong.

My conclusion: Something very big is about to break.

Agreed .. would only edit to: Something even bigger ..

When a liberal calls a conservative a racist that does make him a traitor.

That's just silly.

When a liberal calls a conservative a racist, the odds are that:
a) it's slanderously false, and
b) the liberal has lost, via rational debate, whatever the argument was and is forced to go their usual ad hominem route.

"Treasonous" is a word that carries a great deal of rhetorical weight. I don't think Trump would use that word unless he had evidence to back it up.

Someone shouted from the audience, "TREASON" ...

President Trump responded to that person. It wasn't on Trump's speech but it was in response to an audience member.

When you use character assassination against an entire segment of the population for political gain you are undermining the nation. Betraying it.

I don’t think the deliberate destruction of the fabric of our country is silly. They sure don’t, it’s dead serious to them.

Well, I see where you were aiming, but it originally said a conservative, not all conservatives.

While there'd be some validity if used against the latter to ascribe motive, when used against the former it's more likely to show the mudslinger as simply a fool.

(which, given it's a liberal, would be true a priori ;-)

No, that’s not wrong.

The words "racist" and "traitor" have been used and misused so badly that both have lost all meaning. We have reached the point where everybody is somebody else's racist, and literally nobody has read the Constitutional definition of treason.

>>and you would not sully your stature.<<

His assertions are also factual, and in my view it is the cowards and liars he calls out whose stature is sullied. I can hear his surrogates every night on Fox.

Talk about overly literal.

Common parlance is not the same as filing an indictment in a court of law.
The world is not as anal-retentive as you’d like it to be.

We may have run in the same circles. Or at least the same kinds of circles.
