While I don’t know the details of the Russian media, I will say that if they’re even HALF AS CORRUPT as our own media (attempting to force the outcome of an election, and then, after failing at that, attempting to depose the duly elected president), I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with Putin shutting them down.
In fact, I would have NO PROBLEM, with Trump shutting down our media (most of it, that is), if the accusations of collusion with the Democrats to rig our election and their attempt to depose Trump are true...which they, of course, are.
The First Amendment was NOT for the purposes of enabling the control of elections, or for overthrowing the duly elected president.
BobL, Putin got rid of all independent media when he came into power. The media in Russia is state-run precisely so a coup won’t happen. There are zero opposing voices. Its all state propaganda, 24-7.
This is one of the basic “how the rest of the world works 101” things Americans don’t get.
Russia has an even worse situation media wise when you think about it.
And when Democrats are in the White House, you can argue our media behaves like Russian sycophant slaves indeed.
Trump left a but of an opening for Hillary’s lies when he was soft on Putin on the campaign trail. I will say that. Would you agree?
We shouldn’t adopt warlike rhetoric or anything...but I dont think a conciliatory tone is called for either.
