House Intelligence Committee Minority Response to Release of Chairman Nunes’ Misleading Memo
democrats-intelligence.house.gov ^ | Feb 2, 2018 | "Democrats Intelligence"

...

“The premise of the Nunes memo is that the FBI and DOJ corruptly sought a FISA warrant on a former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser, Carter Page, and deliberately misled the court as part of a systematic abuse of the FISA process. As the Minority memo makes clear, none of this is true. The FBI had good reason to be concerned about Carter Page and would have been derelict in its responsibility to protect the country had it not sought a FISA warrant.

“In order to understand the context in which the FBI sought a FISA warrant for Carter Page, it is necessary to understand how the investigation began, what other information the FBI had about Russia’s efforts to interfere with our election, and what the FBI knew about Carter Page prior to making application to the court – including Carter Page’s previous interactions with Russian intelligence operatives. This is set out in the Democratic response which the GOP so far refuses to make public.

“The authors of the GOP memo would like the country to believe that the investigation began with Christopher Steele and the dossier, and if they can just discredit Mr. Steele, they can make the whole investigation go away regardless of the Russians’ interference in our election or the role of the Trump campaign in that interference. This ignores the inconvenient fact that the investigation did not begin with, or arise from Christopher Steele or the dossier, and that the investigation would persist on the basis of wholly independent evidence had Christopher Steele never entered the picture.

Dan Bongino has put forth pretty some good theories of how the Trump Russia Collusion myth started and was used before and after the election. Essentially it was a private sting operation by the Dems with various Dem contacts making up Russia stuff and feeding it to Trump family and aides. Bongino points out there are too many coinkydinks for the early contacts between the Clintons and Dems and the stingers. That private political sting operation was turned into an FBI investigation including the use of at least one illegally obtained FIA warrant.

Bongino's show was pretty good: https://www.conservativereview.com/articles/dan-bongino-obamagate-consequential-political-scandal-us-history/ but IMO went farther into some speculation about how Obama might have known than is warranted by the known facts. I.e. just because some info was in the WH SCIF at some point during or after Obama's presidency, doesn't mean Obama knew about this plot. But Obama could easily have known and that's a worthwhile tangent to keep exploring later.

But now we have at least two more Schiff admissions. One yesterday and one today. From yesterday at the leftist talking point site: https://thinkprogress.org/3-lies-in-the-nunes-memo-4c6498aad473/ which I do not recommend reading if you ate within the last 3-6 hours. "big lie" number one: The heart of the memo is that the surveillance of Page would not have been possible without the Steele dossier. The memo says, “Deputy Director McCabe testified before the Committee in December 2017 that no surveillance warrant would have been sought from FISC [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court] without the Steele dossier information.” Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee say that is not true.Adam Schiff, the ranking Democratic member, also confirmed that only portions of the dossier were presented to the court and some of that information already had “corroboration.”

That's pretty damning. Instead of showing the whole Dossier to the court which would have laughed and rejected the warrant, they took pieces from it. And as we know there was manufactured "corroboration" that Schiff is likely referring to. If Schiff had said there was independent evidence that also supported the warrant that would be different. But he did not.

The second "big lie": The memo says that the surveillance court was not notified that funding for the Steele dossier came from supporters of Hillary Clinton. “The application does not mention Steele was working on behalf of — and paid by — the DNC and the Clinton campaign,” the memo reads. A statement released by Schiff says claims “that the FBI failed to alert the court as to Mr. Steele’s potential political motivations or the political motivations of those who hired him” are “not accurate.”

That's a straw man. The Nunes memo says "The initial FISA application notes Steele was working for a named US person but does not name Fusion GPS,..." Obviously Nunes correctly points out there was a named US person with potential political motivations. Presumably the name of that US person remains classified for now, but the fact remains that Fusion GPS was not mentioned thereby concealing the true origins and motivations of the dossier.

"big lie" number three: The memo spends a long time discussing an article in Yahoo News, claiming it was used by the FBI to corroborate the Steele dossier. This is important, according to the memo, because Steele was allegedly a source for the Yahoo News article and, therefore, the corroboration was circular. Schiff’s statement says “this is not at all why the article was referenced.” The statement does not elaborate, presumably because the actual use of the Yahoo News article is still classified.

This is the yahoo news article: https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-s-intel-officials-probe-ties-between-trump-adviser-and-kremlin-175046002.html and we don't know the "classified" reason this deep state propaganda was useful. But perhaps it is this "Harry Reid wrote FBI Director James Comey, citing reports of meetings between a Trump adviser (a reference to Page) and “high ranking sanctioned individuals” in Moscow over the summer as evidence of “significant and disturbing ties” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin that needed to be investigated by the bureau." That would lead to today's admission by Schiff.

Today's tweet from Schiff is "Quite the opposite, Mr. President. The most important fact disclosed in this otherwise shoddy memo was that FBI investigation began July 2016 with your advisor, Papadopoulos, who was secretly discussing stolen Clinton emails with the Russians."

The only other big unknown in the Nunes memo is the scope of the warrant against Page. We know it was fraudulently based on the Dossier and now we know only excerpts so the court could not see how bogus the whole Dossier was. We also know it was based on "corroboration" of the Dossier and not independent evidence. But what if the scope of the warrant was not just to surveil Page who had left the campaign by October, but to also wiretap Trump Tower? That would complete a Democrat talking point thread as I excerpted above from the Dem house intelligence committee. It would mean the FBI presented a similar set of talking points to the court in October to surveil Page but also Trump Tower where Rogers went after the election presumably to warn Trump about surveillance, right before the Trump team moved out.

“Pop! Goes the Weasel”... mr. schiffty.

BTW Schiff— WHAT minority memo? When/if fbi sees your substantiation... much of it would have to be redacted. See how that works.

Why don’t you just leak it like Di-Fi— there’s still time. And then... you’ll be a criminal, clever fellow.

The Democrat response is essentially that they didn’t need the dossier. But they used it, and according to McCabe they did need it.

You are IMMUNE from All Laws under the Speech and Debate clause in the Constitution, they can do Nothing to you for reading Classified Info on the House Floor

Are they saying then it is “fake, but accurate” and the seriousness of the charge dictates they use whatever means necessary to prove it. As my grandmother used to say, they are crusin’ for a brusin’.

Well, there are two kinds of RATs:

The fairly high IQ/evil ones; smarmy bitches who lie with every spoken word, and the braindead morons, including RAT voters, who believe every word of their "leaders".

Of course, the "smarter ones" are not smart enough to outrun their own lies forever. (See: deep state swamp)

Gee Given they were so worried about Page being a spy because of some business dealings with the Ruskies, I wonder if they believed that Clinton, billy boy, who got like a half a million for a 20 minute chat was also being monitored since he was close to the Clintoon campaign? I know the answer, NO.

The RATs say the memo is misleading.

The next logical response would be to demand the release the supporting
documents. Yet not one singe RAT has demanded to see the supporting
documents.
And we all know why. The supporting documents would back up the memo.

Release the supporting documents, redacting sources and methods.

The Deepest State tries to cover for Deep State.
I remember talking to Millennials during 2016.
The reason many backed Bernie was they could see the Clinton Machine corruption.

Soon they will see how deep the Rabbit Hole goes....
