I also know it's condescending SOBs who sign paychecks that have our country overrun with illegal aliens, and insist we can't do without them.
And don't try to hide behind the "encouraging dependence" canard. The proposed plan doesn't cost the business anything.
What it does test is if you have enough resilience in your organization to allow your employees to be people, and not parts. If the business you've built can't handle an occasional pregnancy or debilitating accident among your people without going to pieces, you had no business going into business in the first place.
No, what I object to is the contemptible "it's not the business's responsibility you got pregnant" attitude. Such people deserve what the communists would like to do to them.
And by the way, my family runs several businesses, but we determined long ago never to hire help unless we could make the job something they could live a life on; short of that, it's contractors.
