Report: FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe Knew of New Clinton Emails Weeks Before Acting

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and other top FBI officials were aware for at least a month of new Hillary Clinton emails found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop before alerting Congress and reopening its investigation, according to a report.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that McCabe learned about the thousands of emails by September 28, 2016, but it was not until October 28, 2016, that then-FBI Director James Comey informed Congress about them, 11 days before the election.

The lag time is one focus of the Justice Department inspector general’s investigation into whether political bias at the FBI affected the Clinton email investigation or the Trump Russia investigation, according to the report.

McCabe stepped down as FBI deputy director on Monday, reportedly after FBI Director Christopher Wray got an update on the inspector general’s investigation and considered moving McCabe to another job, which would be an effective demotion. Since McCabe was planning to retire in mid-March — the earliest he could do so and receive full retirement benefits – he decided to go on terminal leave instead.

Wray said in a note to FBI employees announcing McCabe’s resignation that he would not comment on the inspector general investigation, according to the report.

The lag time was revealed in text messages reviewed by the WSJ sent from senior FBI official Peter Strzok, who led the investigation into Clinton’s email server, to FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was having an extramarital affair.

This finally explains the Comey October Surprise, which I could never fully understand. It was clear to me he was covering up for the Beast, putting out the fire over the NYPD leak on the Weiner laptop. But I didn’t understand the context — which is now so very clear:

So they were sitting on this for several weeks, nice. But after the NYPD leak made that no longer tenable, Comey ran the usual Clinton scam of spilling bad news to kill the story, then saying, oh, nevermind, nothing to see.

Btw, it didn’t lose the election for HRC, she was already done by then, but had Comey not acted it would have blown up and she would have been demolished. So, Comey rather salvaged what remained of the Clinton campaign instead of hurting it.

btw, another aspect of the Strzok - Page texts that may be very problematic (possibly criminal) is that she may not have been legitimately “read in” on every case he was discussing with her. Just because she is an FBI lawyer and also working for “Andy” does not mean that she was supposed to be filled in with all the chit chat and pillow talk that Strzok was funneling to her. I hope that investigators are looking hard at whether he was telling her anything that should have been kept on a stricter “need to know” basis.

Usually counter-intel people are supposed to keep cases and info VERY compartmentalized, for a number of important reasons. It will be important to know if/how some of these Hillarybots were breaking laws in a variety of ways. Someone in Strzok’s position would have been very restricted in what he was allowed to say about cases, even to close colleagues in the FBI.
