Whatever he says Tuesday night, the state of President Obamas Nielsen ratings wont be strong.
As the President prepares to give his annual State of the Union address one last time, hell likely score among the lowest viewership hes had during his Administration and far below the numbers seen by Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
Theres not much Obama can do about it, either. State of the Union ratings have been dropping steadily as Americans have vastly more entertainment options on a Tuesday night in January than they did in years past.

I wouldn’t watch an Obama speech if you strapped me in chair like Alex DeLarge.
The truth was that while enough dopes (apparently) still “believed” in 2012, the fact is that by the time Obama gave his last SOTU it couldn’t be hidden - he was a terrible failure as president.
As evidence, I present the election of Donald Trump in 2016.
saw somewhere yesterday Obama got 31m viewers for his final SOTU. President Trump - 47.9m was the last figure I saw.
I’m actually shocked that many watched Obama’s last one; there was no more novelty to his presidency, and a lot of disappointment - especially among his chief supporters.
While they’ll try to twist the narrative years down the road, to connect Black Lies Matter to Donald Trump, the fact is the movement started on Obama’s watch, and I believe it was a direct result of blacks watching the end of his presidency near with no real gains by them. In fact, they were much worse off than 8 years before, watching hordes of additional immigrants come in and pass them on the socio-economic ladder - and it couldn’t be concealed. The “black” president who ran for office publicly opposing “gay marriage” while promising to bring opportunity to blacks ended up legalizing the former and ignoring the latter after using them for votes.
While the Congressional Black Caucus can pooh-pooh Trump’s accomplishments regarding black unemployment, they know he has done more in a year for them than Obama did in eight - but he’s threatening their tribal perches that are based on victimhood and grievance. Trump’s economic policies should “lift all boats” like a rising tide, and his immigration policies are addressing the problems that robbed many Americans - including blacks - of their jobs.
