I've taken to writing my Human Resources department if I see company endorsements of homosexuality. I argue that it is creating a hostile environment for people who consider it an abomination, and that a business office is no place for sexual discussions of ANY kind -- hetero or homo.

If hetero males can be crucified for sexual harassment for making an off-color joke, then I fail to see how promoting a homosexual "pride" event at work is any less harassing to heteros.

My efforts have not made any difference to date, but at least I have made my stance. It's a start ...

Seriously?!

Good for you! Here in CA, that would get you shown the door five minutes after the memo landed in HR.

At my last company about a year ago, HR celebrated Harvey Milk Day (homo San Fran Supervisor who was murdered) by putting out milk & cookies for all employees at 3 PM. I kid you not. That was an extremely offensive thing to me, but I gritted my teeth and kept saying to self “simmer down...keep mouth shut...concentrate on work.”

If you don’t mind me asking, what state are you in?

Please don’t underestimate the malice of the enemy. I think the odds are very high that some people in your company have their knives out for you, and are just waiting for a chance to do you mischief.
