Statement by AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka in response to President Donald Trumps first State of the Union address, which he attended last night:
Last night, President Trump painted an everything-being-great picture of America that while optimistic, is not the reality for most working families. That may be how his friends are living, but the working men and women we represent arent seeing the same America; and his policies are making it worse. The truth is many of the things he says are undermined by the actual policies he supports.
While hes rightly acknowledged problems in trade, Americas workers are still victim to corporate-designed deals, and last night he offered no solutions to make NAFTA benefit working people. While he recognizes the crisis of outsourcing jobs, his tax bill actually encourages corporations to do it. While he promises to put America back to work building infrastructure, he actually wants to spend more on a border wall than investing in all of Americas infrastructure for an entire year. And he uses hardworking Dreamers and TPS recipients as a bargaining chip to do it. And slashing regulations, one of his biggest applause lines, really means working people are denied wages and workplaces are less safe.
But, here's the truth: No matter who's sitting in the White House or what they're saying on TV or what they're tweeting, working people are moving forward. We are united around an agenda to secure our economic futurefighting for the freedom to have a voice on the job, share in the wealth we help create and live better lives.
I’ll favor Trump over any socialist union boss any day!
I was in the Mailhandlers Union, which was a puppet of the APWU. Everytim Election Day approached they would plaster their propaganda all over the work floor effectively telling us to shut up and vote Democrat and tell our family and friends to do likewise no matter what. As if our jobs, and lives depended on it. All while selling us out to the wetbacks. To the unions, F YOU VERY MUCH for nothing.
Where is J Hoffa???
... and what does the UNION LEADERSHIP know about the real workers?
“The truth is many of the things he says are undermined by the actual policies he supports.”
Correction:
The truth is many of the things he says are undermined by our union dues.
“But, here’s the truth: No matter who’s sitting in the White House or what they’re saying on TV or what they’re tweeting, working people are moving forward. “
This is a clever way of saying that “Things will be getting better, but don’t even think of giving credit to Trump’s policies”
So if things get better and it’s not a democrat (Which it never is, my brain almost popped a circuit breaker typing that) then it’s obviously just luck. Or it’s us, the Union.
$1,000 dollar bonuses, raises, soaring 401ks and $4,000 dollar tax breaks aren’t the AFL-CIO’s picture of America.
Now pay your union dues!
AFL-CIO should not be approved as a non profit. Have they endorsed s republican?
During 8 years of Obama he never said a word.
In 1992 the unions were against NAFTA. Now they want open borders.
I’ve been in two unions. Got screwed over by both.
I’ll always remember the clip of Little Dick celebrating the Obamabots “shoving” Obamacare down the throats of Americans. He’s a little commie b*tch.
I predict that before the 2020 election, union workers will throw that fat Marxist pig Trumpka out of the union.
Screw unions.
Trumpka, yo, stfu already, kkthx!
Unions getting as scared as the rest of the Left....MAGA!!!!
